Enhancing Meditation with Enthusiastic Perseverance

While preparing a meditation retreat in Nepal, Choeding Rinpoche suggested: “If you ever feel tension or very ambitious in a sitting, stop. Get on your bike and go for a ride. Afterwards you can start over with a relaxed and open mind.” He knew that for me cycling is the perfect way to train enthusiastic perseverence and to let go. Any tension in your body is transferred to the bike, and any stiffness makes the bike harder to control. When you’re relaxed you steer with your body, and allow your shoulders to guide you through each turn. You, the bike and the trail become one.
